How To Measure Your Dog's Neck for Paracord Collars
Materials Needed:
- Flexible measuring tape OR a piece of string and ruler
- Pen or marker
- Paper
FOR PARACORD COLLAR W/BIOTHANE ATTACHMENT:
If using a measuring tape:
- Step 1: Prepare your materials. Gather your flexible measuring tape or ruler & string, pen, and paper.
- Step 2: If you're using a measuring tape, simply read the measurement where the tape meets itself.
- Step 3: Record the measurement in inches or centimeters. This is the circumference of your dog's neck.
If using a string:
- Step 1: Wrap the string gently around your dog's neck where their collar would normally sit (See green #1 on the diagram). Make sure it's not too tight or too loose, allowing for a comfortable fit.
- Step 2: Mark the point where the string meets itself, creating a complete circle around your dog's neck.
- Step 3: If you used a string, carefully lay it flat against a ruler and note the measurement where you made the mark.
- Step 4: Record the measurement in inches or centimeters. This is the circumference of your dog's neck.
FOR SLIP STYLE COLLARS: Repeat this process to measure the dogs neck directly in front of and behind the ears and jowl bones (See yellow #2 & red #3 on the diagram). This is to ensure the collar will slip easily over the thickest part of their head.
